Components of Precice 2

External Remote Controller (erc)

The External Remote Controller is a compact magnetic gadget that elongates when you press the button on it. It thus allows for a regulated lengthening phase. The PRECICE ERC is designed to precisely extend the tibia or femur in accordance with the surgeon’s directive. The non-invasive magnetic interaction between the PRECICE implant and the hand-held, portable PRECICE External Remote Controller (ERC), which lengthens the PRECICE nail, is the technology’s main component. The ERC is intended for use in a clinical environment or in the convenience of the patient’s own home. In order to verify lengthening and the development of new bone, routine radiographic and clinical assessments are carried out. The surgeon can adjust the rate of lenthening to fit the quality of newly formed bone.

Lengthening with erc

The number of individual lengthening sessions that must be performed each day, as well as the duration of each session, will be determined by the surgeon. Patients are usually instructed to extend their bones by 0.75 to 1 mm every day (0.03 to 0.04 inches; 1 inch is 25 mm).

For instance, a patient would be instructed to extend 0.25 mm throughout the course of four separate sessions during the day, for a daily total of 1 mm of lengthening. To extend the bone 0.25 mm, each ERC session would take roughly two minutes. It would take eight minutes a day for four sessions.

Intramedullary Precice Nail

The titanium alloy intramedullary nail or rod is utilized as an internal fixation. It has a ball screw mechanism for lengthenig and a magnetic motor which can take signal from erc and drives the ball screw mechanism. By examining the X-ray pictures, the physician determines the nail’s size. 8 mm, 10 mm, 10 mm, 11 mm, or 12 mm) It is inserted surgically into the bone cavity during the procedure. The nail is biocompatible, meaning that it has no substances that could hurt the body.
